LZMS South PTO Minutes

May 14, 2009

The meeting was called to order by Lana Fava at 8:00 pm.

Those present: Lana Fava, Lynn Tsiapas, David Gardner,Jill Davis, Julie Schaefges, Laurie Landgrebe, Eileen Mattison, Laura Dawson, Sharon Callard, Cindy Miller, Lisa Warren, Diana D’Avello, Becky Steindel, Mary Santi, Anne Close.

President – Lana Fava

Eileen Mattison made a motion and Julie Schaefges seconded the motion to approve the board for next year. Motion passed.

We have $9,300.00 in our account before 8^th grade bash items.

We will be getting a bench from the school district for the courtyard and they will permanently install the bench.

Vice President – Shari Sorrells

Secretary – Lynn Tsiapas

Eileeen Mattison made a motion to approve the April minutes and Julie Schaefges second the motion. Motion passed.

Treasurer – Patti Schumacher

The budget for next year is mostly the same as this year’s budget.

We have $9,800 available for grants.

Eileen Mattison made a motion and Julie Schaefges seconded the motion and a vote was taken to approve the budget for next year.

Principal -- Dave Gardner

Next year there will be three 6th grade teams, 7th and 8th grade will each have two teams.

Ms. Russo and Mr. Willer have been reinstated for next year.

Mr. Walsh is going to be the new Assistant Principal.

Class sizes will be larger, some will have 33 kids most will have an average of 26/27.

Late buses will be reinstated with a fee for next year.

8th Grade Bash – Ann Wayne, Joanne Glatz, Rita Thurston, Anna Venetos

We are still short at least a dozen or more volunteers to help decorate and especially during the event.

Flower Sale – Jill Davis

There was $6,500 in sales and extra $1,000 that was ordered to sell for the day. The profit was $2,900.00.

Halloween Activity –Kathy Donahue, Janet Peterson, Cheryl Eisenhuth

During teacher appreciation week they had neck massages for the teachers on Monday,
Tuesday cakes were brought in and Portillos was catered in. Friday was the gift card raffle and everyone received a card. They also had dips and appetizers.

Landscaping – Sherri Adelizzi

The landscapers did a spring clean up and mulch. They did $5,000.00 in work and only charged us $500.00

We finished the year by arranging for volunteers for the spring library book fair. We are currently exploring database websites to organize all the volunteers into a database to make communication easier next year.
